District level dissemination workshop
Date: 25th of February 2014
Venue: Professor Chandiwana Public Health Centre in Mutasa DC, Manicaland
For this dissemination workshop (programme), which was held in the district of the research area, we invited stakeholders linked to child welfare, health and education at a district level, together with head teachers from the study schools. See attendance list for details. Stakeholders were encouraged to bring forward their input to our research findings, and express their views on how these resonated with their realities and experiences in the district.
Through exercises workshop participants were divided into groups with 5 members representing different institutions in each group. The groups were asked to carry out group excises where each group member was to take their own institutions and experiences as a starting point, and discuss possibilities and implications for schools to play a role in the revention and mitigation of HIV and AIDS. These group exercises worked out very well as it gave all workshop participants a chance to speak.
Workshop participants were very enthusiastic about the group exercises, engaged actively
in the dynamic discussions - and brought forward different interesting perspectives between the groups. Each group presented outcome if their discussion to the rest of the workshop participants, and the workshop was completed with a plenary discussion around ways forward. See full summary of input received at this workshop in the stakeholder report.
The workshop was attended by participants from a variety of international, national and district level organisations, national government departments and school representatives.
